Hawthorn Heart Tincture

This 1:3 tincture in 37% abv has been made with flowers, berries and leaf over the period of a year. All plant matter has been gathered by hand by me from local trees.

🌿 Dosage

• 3–4 drops up to 3 times daily as a heart tonic

• Or 3–4 drops in moments of grief, emotional pain, or stress

• Best taken over time for steady, lasting support.

• Contraindications & Cautions for Hawthorn

  1. Low blood pressure

     • Hawthorn may lower blood pressure; caution if prone to hypotension.

  2. Heart medications

     • Especially digitalis (digoxin) and other cardiac glycosides — hawthorn may potentiate their effects.

     • Also caution with beta-blockers, nitrates, and antihypertensive drugs.

  3. Pregnancy & breastfeeding

     • Safety not established; avoid unless guided by a qualified practitioner.

  4. Surgery

     • May affect blood pressure and heart rhythm; discontinue at least 2 weeks before surgery.

  5. Children

     • Not typically recommended for children without professional advice.

  6. Allergy

     • Rare, but avoid if known allergy to plants in the rose family (Rosaceae).

  7. Excessive dosage Important Information:

     • Large amounts may cause dizziness, nausea, or palpitations. Hawthorn is generally safe in tonic doses but should not be overused.
